Skulls Found Near Grave Site

Police say a grieving family discovered two human skulls partially buried above the grave of their recently deceased father in Bridgeport. The skulls were stuffed with eight strips of what appeared to be bloodstained paper, each with a person’s name on it.

Russian Pagans From Ancient Cult Greet Solstice

Tambourine throbbing in hand, Velislav chants to gods whose cult has almost been obliterated by a millennium of Christianity in Russia. Several hundred followers wearing linen, ancient Slavic ornaments and flower garlands circle around the high priest to celebrate the summer solstice, in an all-night festivity fought by the Russian Orthodox Church for centuries. The rugged faces of bearded gods

The Expanded Mind (Book Review)

In 1991, Benny Shanon, a respected professor of psychology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, flew to Brazil to participate in a scientific conference. After it ended, he travelled to an Amazonian outpost called Colonia. Shanon's curiosity had been piqued by reports that members of a church in Colonia consumed a psychotropic tea called ayahuasca, brewed from two rain-forest plants. Long prized by

In Spain, The Dead Help Fight Climate Change

In the Barcelona suburb of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, the deceased are fighting climate change. Last November, the town's cemetery installed more than 450 solar panels on tops of the mausoleums, called niches. Esteban Serret's company, Cons-te, S.L., manages the graveyard and helped convert it into a solar park.

Wicker Man Companion Finally Filming

As hinted in my recent post about the knighting of Sir Christopher Lee, it looks like the fiscally derailed production of “Cowboys For Christ” is back to filming in Scotland. Both /Film and ShockTillYouDrop are reporting that the long-promised sequel/re-imagining/companion to the classic 1973 horror/folk-musical “The Wicker Man” is now in the midst of shooting. “ShockTillYouDrop [...]

Happy 4th of July

I’m taking the day off from blogging, enjoy the fireworks! Oh, and thanks to the precise wordsmiths who wrote the Declaration of Independence.

(Pagan) News of Note

My semi-regular round-up of articles, essays, and opinions of note for discerning Pagans and Heathens. Move over Long Man of Wilmington and Cerne Abbas Giant, a mining company is carving a 400-yard goddess figure into the Northumberland landscape. “Dubbed the “Goddess of the North”, Northumberlandia will be made from two million tonnes of earth dug out from [...]

Quick Note: Recycling Journalism

I know Pagans are usually pretty pro recycling, but this is ridiculous. The Atalanta Journal Constitution re-runs a not-very-funny article by Charles Yoo about Pagans from October, no, not October 2008, October 2006. “Oh, Great Spirit of the Forest, hear this prayer. Among us, the mortals, walk lonesome souls whose devotion to thee must be hidden. [...]

Quick Note: A Bit of Pagan Ballet

Mythical and Arcadian motifs in opera, classical music, and ballet are nothing new, but it’s always nice to remember that choreographers and composers have been mining these rich themes for generations. For instance, The New York Times reviews the American Ballet Theater’s revival production of “Sylvia” (aka “Sylvia ou La Nymphe de Diane”) and revels [...]

Welcome to the PaganMystics Community

Céad míle fáilte romhat (100,000 welcomes to you) to PaganMystics. We are a new community building from an older forum, Paganism today, is an umbrella term of sorts, and is usually used to describe someone who believes in many varied gods and goddesses, or even one Goddess and God.

Here at PaganMystics we will work together to create awareness of these many paths, as well as provide our members with accurate, historical and modern material for a further study on the many paths "Paganism" has to offer.

So let the many pathways be opened, and let us gather at the great crossroads. If you'd walk the paths with us, then let us each put away the Truth of the World and find the Land Beyond the Waves, dance the twofold pathway on one leg, and let the Hidden Ones come!!!

Flowers are for our souls to enjoy;
not for our bodies to wear. Leave
them alone and they will live out
their lives and reproduce themselves
as the Great Gardener intended.

Did You Know?

Tribal women play an important and
respected role in their communities.
Women and men had specific duties,
and their roles in the tribe are valued.
Women's duties are not degrading, nor
are they considered an easier task.

THE ART OF CANDLE MAGICK

THE ART OF CANDLE MAGICK

Candle Magick is greatly desired by Witches. Almost always used in
magick making, candles are associated with the fire element. They
speak a magickal language, the words being expressed by the flickering
and dancing of the candle flame, the billowing of the smoke, and the
popping of the hot wax. Candles chatter, and the direction of the
flame denote magical communication. Just sitting in a room lit only
by a few candles or several creates this mystical, magickal experie… Continue
