Hey everyone! I'm a seeker and just started studying about Asatru. I've been checking out the discussion forum and if I have any questions I will let you know! =D

I think there are a few discussions about Asatru in this group.

Not an expert, but, if you ask questions, we can help figure out the answers

Ive been recently looking into the history and migration of the Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Vandles, Lomardians, and Huns. It is very interesting stuff to me. I am part Slavic and the goths invaded the early slavic tribes numourous times and it changed the culture drastically. I think thats what I love so much about the germanic peoples, they not only influenced many cultures around them but they adopted practices of those they conquered into thier religious and daily lives.

Mel, you are right. It is time this group is liven up the discussions. I found that not everyone knows exactly about Asatru, but many are too shy to ask. Perhaps you could enlighten those?

ShaamAnsu,
Allow me to add to what you wrote. There are also those who lived in what is now Middle Germany: the Saxons, Teutons, East - and West Goths, etc. Going back to the "Voelkerwanderung", when all the tribes were
moving all over Europe, not all settled as one, some splintered off. West Goths, for instance, went to what is now France.
There is still a large monument of the Teuton leader who, with his men, beat the Romans. It was the first step to conribute to the downfall of the Roman Army in Europe. This monument is in the Teutoburger Wald , where the battle was.

It makes my heart sad that this group is so dead. Are there no true Asatrur on this site who would like to talk and share?

So glad to have found you. Or did you find me?

I was born at the foot of the German Witches Mountain, the Brocken, and raised in the North European Tradition. I don't really know for how many generations there were witches in my mother's family, too far back. It was just a way of life for us.
The place I was born (now a spa) dates back to before Henry the Lion hearted. It's name shows also that the
people used to worship the Pagan Gods.
In Old German it was called Schiere Ecken. In High German this means: Reine Eichen, in English: Pure Oaks). Oaks are Odin's trees.
I am looking forward to have good discussions with all of you.
Bright Blessings,
Brockenhexe

Merry Meet. I have germanic ancestry or so I've been told, and I've always been interested in the lore. I look forward to learning.
