I'm a writer, a teacher, and a witch. I practice arts of divination from around the world, including cartomancy, rune-reading, palmistry, astrology, animal augury, and a variety of other methods. I first learned the Tarot as a child, and have been reading professionally for more than fifteen years.
I am an initiate of the NorthWind Tradition of American Wicca and the Cauldron Tradition of Witchcraft. NorthWind is unusual among Wiccan traditions in that it is specifically "American Wicca, " and proceeds (in part) from the notion that Wiccan practitioners in the U.S. should understand and acknowledge the spirits of this land. The NorthWind foundress is a traditional Wiccan initiated through Buckland’s line, but also a Cherokee medicine woman. NorthWind incorporates much from the Cherokee medicine path, which is not native to Gardnerian-type Wicca. Our concept of deity is also a bit different: NorthWind honors not just God and Goddess, but also Community, as deity.
My branch of the NorthWind trad has been "hiving" for some years. Some elements of the NorthWind structure we chose to develop further, and there are a good many beliefs and practices from other historic or contemporary pagan traditions that influence our current work. What we do still falls very much within the theological framework of "Wicca, " but because many of the specific elements of it are a departure from Gardner, we have chosen to self-identify as a "Tradition of Witchcraft" rather than a "Tradition of Wicca." This fledgling Tradition is named Cauldron, and I am among its founding members.
I am also a priestess of the runes (vitki), a Reiki healer, and I have trained and practiced in the Cherokee medicine path. I teach classes in tarot and rune reading, shamanic journeying, and Witchcraft and magickal studies.
I'm also a teacher of science and literature: I teach science programs for children, and I instruct college classes in English and writing. I've worked in hard-news and arts reporting, and I am a writer of both poetry and fiction. I began attending law school in 2007, with the intent of pursuing work in victim advocacy.
