About Me
I guess the best way to describe me would be..."quirky". There are so many different and unique things that make up my personality, it seems like any attempt to capture them all here would be a futile effort. Plus it helps sort out the people who really want to get to know me. I think.

I am a Kemetic Reconstructionist, meaning I honour the gods of Kemet, or ancient Egypt as most know it. More specifically, I am a member of the Kemetic Orthodox Faith, one of the largest Kemetic groups today. I underwent the Rite of Parent Divination in late March, marking my initiation, so to speak, into the House of Netjer. I was divined a daughter of Yinepu and Bast, beloved of Djehuty.

Sometimes, Being A Shopaholic Pays Off...

(Yes, this blog is simply my overdramatic way of happily showing off a new statue)

Like today, an otherwise lazy, unproductive day in which I decided to go shopping downtown for really no reason at all. Of course, downtown is more of a high-class, let's blow a few hundred dollars on a frickin pair of shoes kinda deal (no offense to those who would do that, of course), so I ended up heading for Son of the Pharaoh, the Egyptian-themed giftshop that I frequent. It's been a while since I was… Continue

Reflections On 9/11

I woke up early this morning. I fought for a good five minutes with my TV set, reminding myself that I really should set things up a little better, so the simple task of switching from DVD player to cable isn't such a headache. It won't happen. The battle with the TV meant that I had to rush to find the channel I was searching for.

It was on channel 37 that I found what I had been looking for, the reason I had woken up so early: the September 11th memorial ceremony, at the site where the World… Continue

Scratch One Item Off The Big Life-Goal List...

I'm sure most of us have 'em. That big list of goals we want to accomplish before we die, so we're not spending our final days mentally kicking ourselves in the arse for all the time wasted...or maybe that's just me. I can pretty much only speak for myself, because I'm so out of touch with humanity most of the time.

Still, the list is there. It includes things from the more or less impossible to the maybe-if-I-won-the-lottery to the normal things that I should have done by now but for some stup… Continue

Happy Wep Ronpet!

Today, August 7th, is the Kemetic holiday of Wep Ronpet, or, the Kemetic New Year.

Usual celebrations include the reciting of prayers at sunrise, bringing out our icons/statues to "Kiss the Face of Ra" (to place them in the light of the rising sun), symbolically smiting the force known to us as ifset, and symbolically slaying the serpent known as Apep, both of which seek to undo all that which is good in the world.

This was my first Wep Ronpet as a Kemetic Orthodox Shemsu, so I was fairly dete… Continue

Naming

Tonight, I attended a Kemetic Orthodox Naming ceremony. The Naming is the final step of a rite of passage into Kemetic Orthodoxy, marking one's commitment to serve as a full member of the faith. It marks the end of a long journey to the faith, and the beginning of a (hopefully) even longer journey within it. In the ritual, the person is given a special Kemetic name, given to them by their Parent god(s), divined by the Nisut of Kemetic Orthodoxy.

Almost four months ago to the date, I was one of… Continue

Greetings Friend,
May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

Hey, Kat. Lady A indicated you might have a good deal to contribute on the Christian Paths group, so I was hoping you might drop by and stir things up a bit. I'm afraid I'm not much of a conversationalist! I hope to hear from you soon and that you have a blessed day! Peace, light and joy to you and yours! -Kathy
